The Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation and Haller Lake Community Council invite friends and neighbors of Northacres Park to provide feedback on a preliminary design plan for an off-leash area proposed for the park. Issues raised during the recent public tour and how they were addressed in the site design will also be reviewed. The workshop will begin after the community council briefly discusses some neighborhood business. We encourage you to arrive at the start of the meeting to find out how you can get involved in other neighborhood activities.

On Sept. 23, over thirty people braved a rainy evening to learn about initial plans for the off-leash area and provide ideas on how it should be designed and operated. Participants gave a range of guidance on topics such as parking, fencing materials, alignments, park improvements, operations, kiosk locations, and raised issues that could be addressed in the site design and operation. Information from the site tour is being used by Park's architects to develop a preliminary site plan that will be presented at the design workshop for further refinements from the community.

Following the design workshop, we will evaluate the feedback received and finalize the design plan for the off-leash area. We will also negotiate a site maintenance agreement with Citizens for Off-Leash Areas (COLA) for the long-term stewardship of the area. Construction should be completed and the site open by early 2000.
